Jill Stein running for Governor
Posted Saturday January 30, 2010 at 12:03 pm by J. W. Evans (district 2)

I've always had a thing for the Green Party and generally like to follow them and see what they're doing, so I have news about them that some of you probably might already know.

It'll make for a good discussion regardless.

Jill Stein will be running for Governor come 2010.

This is good for almost everyone except Deval Patrick, as Jill Stein's presense on the ballot is sure to attract the support of the progressive and environmentalist left. This is good for the Green Party as well, which already has the promise of being a viable alternative to people on the left disgruntled with the current Massachusetts legislature, but who aren't disgruntled enough yet to enroll in the various Liberty movements.

Now, I don't think I need to point out the obvious relevance of Dr. Stein running in the election. It's a close enough race as it is between an R challanger, Tim Cahill, and Deval Patrick.

Now adding Jill Stein in there possibly is making it even messier for Governor Patrick.

However, Green-Rainbows could do more then that. Look at some of their past elections. People will vote and support them if they come out and make it on the ballot. These people are the ones who are normally voting for the closest thing to their personal beliefs.

If the Green-Rainbows continued to pursue being a major player, but doing so from starting off from the bottom-up, as opposed to the top-down, then the super-landslide percentage victories the Massachusetts Democrats hold over Non-Democrats would definitely start to shrink. At least this is what I personally think.

Plus, who knows, if a 3rd Party gets a little wiggle-room in the legislature, one that supports easier ballot access laws, who's to say you wouldn't see the Massachusetts legislature becoming much more diverse?

Grace Ross vs. Deval Patrick in Dem. Primary for Governor

Seems Patrick has his first opponent in the election from his own party. Everyone remember Green Grace Ross? The Green candidate from 2006?
Well, Grace has decided to face off with Patrick in the Democratic Party Primary.
It's getting heated up!
