Preparing for the Dollar's Collapse
Posted Monday November 30, 2009 at 5:34 pm by Stephen Ayer (district 7)

Given that eventually all paper currency collapses, we must assume that the dollar is no different. Eventually its value will be zero.

When this will happen we do not know and have little control over, but we can prepare for it. I thought it might be a good idea to share some ideas here so that we can prepare as individuals and as a group. We can also educate others, including our elected representatives.

Some questions we need to ask:

- How quickly could the dollar collapse?

- What will the warning signs be?

- What contigency plans are in place if (when) this happens?

- How can we, as an organization, work together to help each other prepare?

I don't have the answers. I am not very well prepared and this scares me.I propably need to stock up on food and water (?) and provisions in case a banking holiday was declared, or worse. Having some gold and silver coins to use if the dollar were in free fall might be a good idea. But if the whole system shut down, would there be food available to buy?

I'd like to know what others think.

This Little-Known Rule Could Send Gold to $10,000

Within the next 12 months, the U.S. Treasury will have to refinance $2 trillion in short-term debt. And that's not counting any additional deficit spending, which is estimated to be around $1.5 trillion.

this article makes a good case for a dollar crisis by 2012.
